Regular biography
Richard Royce Schrock is an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research interests include synthetic and mechanistic organotransition metal and inorganic chemistry, catalysis, and polymers. His work spans the development of catalysts for olefin metathesis, asymmetric metathesis, and the reduction of dinitrogen to ammonia. He has also explored the synthesis of specialty polymers through ring-opening metathesis polymerization and cyclopolymerization. His research has focused on creating catalysts for controlled polymer synthesis and understanding the mechanisms of catalytic reactions involving organometallic species.
