Regular biography
Arup K. Chakraborty is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research focuses on understanding the mechanistic underpinnings of the adaptive immune response to pathogens and harnessing this knowledge to design better vaccines and therapies. His work spans the intersection of physical and life sciences, employing theoretical and computational approaches rooted in statistical physics to study immune processes. Chakraborty's research interests include T cell signaling, T cell repertoire development, and the human immune response to HIV. He is also interested in cell membrane biophysics and the role of phase separation in gene regulation. Chakraborty holds the John M. Deutch Institute Professorship and is a founding member of the Ragon Institute of MIT, MGH, and Harvard.
