Regular biography
John M. Deutch is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has been a member of the MIT faculty since 1970 and has held leadership roles including Chairman of the Department of Chemistry, Dean of Science, and Provost. His research interests span physical chemistry, technology, energy, international security, and public policy. Deutch has served in various government and academic positions, including Director of Central Intelligence and Deputy Secretary of Defense. He has published extensively and received numerous honors and awards throughout his career. He is also a collaborator of the MIT Energy Initiative.
