About
Regular biography

Sylvia Teresse Ceyer is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her research focuses on the atomic level dynamics of interactions between molecules and surfaces of materials used as catalysts for energy production and environmental sustainability or as templates for nanodevices. Her work explores how surface chemistry differs under ultrahigh vacuum conditions compared to ambient conditions, addressing challenges such as the pressure gap. She investigates mechanisms like dissociative chemisorption and dynamics of surface reactions using advanced experimental techniques. Ceyer is also a collaborator of the MIT Energy Initiative.
