Lauren Chapman is a Professor in the Department of Biology at McGill University. Her research focuses on conservation, ecology, evolution, and behaviour, with particular emphasis on aquatic ecology and conservation, evolutionary and ecological consequences of respiratory strategies in fishes, ecophysiology, ecomorphology, adaptive divergence, tropical inland waters, and Africa. Recent work explores divergent selection across oxygen gradients in fishes, interactions of hypoxia with environmental stressors, and the role of tropical wetlands in maintaining fish diversity. She is also an Honorary Lecturer at Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda, and an Associate Member of the McGill School for Environment and Redpath Museum.
