Ethan Garner

Ethan Garner is a Lecturer in the Department of Molecular & Cellular Biology at Harvard University. His research focuses on the self-organizing mechanisms that create and read out long-range shape in bacteria and archaea, particularly the spatial control of growth and division using minimal numbers of proteins. His work combines genetics, biochemistry, and biophysical approaches to understand how these systems function and are regulated. Garner teaches courses such as Cell Biology Through the Microscope and Optical Approaches to Understanding Prokaryotic Cellular Organization. His research has been published in journals such as Nature Communications, Annual Review of Cell and Developmental Biology, and Nature Microbiology.
