L. Catherine Brinson, Ph.D., is a Distinguished Professor in the Thomas Lord Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science at Duke University. She holds a B.S. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, an M.S. and Ph.D. from the California Institute of Technology. Dr. Brinson has held various academic positions, including Professor in Materials Science and Engineering at Northwestern University, where she also served as Department Chair and Associate Dean for Academic and Professional Initiatives.
