Leila Lee-la Bridgeman is an Assistant Professor in the Thomas Lord Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science at Duke University. She joined Duke as an assistant professor of mechanical engineering and materials science on January 1, 2018. Bridgeman received B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Applied Mathematics from McGill University in 2008 and 2010, respectively, and completed her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at McGill University in 2016. Her doctoral research focused on the foundational work of George Zames, exploring the use of conic sectors in controller design for input-output stability. Her research interests include robust and optimal control, linear matrix inequalities, model predictive control, and stability analysis of delayed and nonminimum-phase systems. She has published extensively on these topics and collaborates with colleagues at Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories.
