Douglas Nowacek

Douglas Nowacek is the Randolph K. Repass and Sally-Christine Rodgers University Distinguished Professor of Conservation Technology in Environment and Engineering at Duke University's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research focuses on marine mammal behavioral and acoustic ecology, ocean noise, and offshore renewable energy. His work explores how marine mammals use sound in ecological processes, including the link between acoustic and motor behavior in species such as cetaceans and manatees. He also investigates the effects of anthropogenic noise on marine mammals, particularly bottlenose dolphins and other cetaceans.
