Jun Yang is the Knut Schmidt Nielsen Distinguished Professor of Computer Science at Duke University's Department of Computer Science. His research interests focus on database and data-intensive computing. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. from Stanford University and B.A. from University of California, Berkeley. He co-directs the Duke Database Research Group, which is part of the Duke Systems and Architecture Group. His research has been supported by various organizations including the National Science Foundation, Knight Foundation, National Institute of Health, Duke University, Google, HP, and IBM. His research projects include database query optimization, computational journalism, and data-driven environmental sensor networks.
