Michael C. Fitzgerald is a Professor of Chemistry at Duke University, affiliated with the Chemistry department and the Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. He serves as Chair of Chemistry and also holds a Professorship in Biochemistry. His research group focuses on protein folding and function, employing covalent labeling strategies and mass spectrometry to study thermodynamic properties of protein folding and ligand binding. Current efforts include developing biophysical methods for proteomic-scale protein folding measurements and applying these methods in disease detection, diagnosis, and therapy. He is also a member of the Duke Cancer Institute.
