David E. Schaad

David E. Schaad is a Professor of the Practice and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Duke University. His research focuses on sustainable engineering, community development, water and wastewater treatment design, stormwater retention and treatment, hazardous waste remediation, urban hydrology, and constructed wetland and stream restoration. He teaches courses on sustainable design and engineering communication, and his work includes publications in journals such as the Journal of Hydrology and the Journal of Environmental Engineering. Schaad is affiliated with the Duke Global Health Institute and the Duke Initiative for Science & Society.
