Devi Swain Lenz

Devi Swain Lenz is an Assistant Research Professor in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at Duke University. She is the Director of the Duke Sequencing and Genomics Technologies Core Facility (SGT) and has over 15 years of experimental and computational experience in genomics research. Her research interests focus on understanding how cis-regulatory variation contributes to phenotypic differences between and within species. She earned her PhD in Molecular Genetics and Genomics at Washington University in St. Louis and completed her postdoctoral research at Duke University. She has also held multiple leadership roles for nonprofit organizations focused on increasing and maintaining diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM-related fields.

Devjanee Swain Lenz is a researcher whose work focuses on genetic variation, chromatin dynamics, and molecular mechanisms underlying disease. Her research explores the role of chromatin accessibility differences across primate species, the impact of type I interferon signaling on inflammatory responses, and the genetic basis of metabolic traits. She also investigates the functional consequences of polymorphism in yeast and the genomic changes associated with immune-related conditions. Her studies include the analysis of chromatin landscapes in white adipose tissue and the evaluation of high-throughput mutational scans in transcriptional domains. Additionally, she has contributed to the development of models for studying acute rejection in cardiac transplantation and the analysis of gene regulation in meiotic processes.
