Regular biography
Alison Hill is a Senior Lecturer of Biology in the Biology department at Duke University. Her primary focus is instructional, where she teaches courses for both biology majors and non-majors. She develops and innovates the Molecular Biology lab curriculum and integrates formative assessment into lectures. Her non-majors courses emphasize scientific literacy, introducing foundational principles of genetics and molecular biology while exploring societal issues. She expanded her non-majors courses to an international audience by teaching Genetics, Genomics and Society at Duke in Kunshan. Her scholarly work focuses on enhancing students' mastery in complex problem solving and the impact of creative assessments on learning outcomes.
