Regular biography
Julie Reynolds is a Professor of the Practice in the Department of Biology at Duke University. She holds a Ph.D. in biology and has spent over a decade researching how writing assignments can promote deep, conceptual learning in science education. Her work focuses on integrating writing-intensive courses into large science classes to enhance student learning. Reynolds has received funding from the National Science Foundation and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute for her research on writing-to-learn pedagogies in STEM disciplines. She has also served as a writing coach for scientists, helping them improve productivity and reduce writing-related stress. Her research has been published in several academic journals, including Bioscience and CBE-Life Sciences Education.
