Regular biography
Jacob Levine is a Scholar In Residence in the Department of Biology at Duke University. His research focuses on plant community ecology, specifically examining mechanisms that maintain biodiversity and how climate change may disrupt these processes. He also investigates drivers of wildfire severity and mitigation strategies. Levine approaches these topics through mathematical theory, field experiments, and observational analyses. He will join Duke Biology as an assistant professor in July 2026 and is recruiting postdocs and students starting in August 2026. His work includes studies on forest disturbances, wildfire dynamics, and trait diversity in plant communities.
