Songtao Lu

Songtao Lu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research interests include Optimization, Machine Learning, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence. Dr. Lu received his Ph.D. from Iowa State University and has held positions at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center. He is affiliated with the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab and has contributed to various prestigious conferences and journals. His work has been recognized with several awards, including the IBM Pat Goldberg Memorial Best Paper Honorable Mention Award and the IBM Outstanding Innovation Award. He is also a Senior Member of IEEE and a member of ACM.

His research addresses challenges in machine learning, including robustness against Byzantine attacks and the design of scalable optimization algorithms for complex systems.
