Michael Lawler is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Physics at Cornell University. His research focuses on theoretical condensed-matter physics, particularly on quantum spin liquids and quantum liquid crystals. His work explores how quantum spin liquids form in frustrated magnetic insulators and investigates new collective phenomena in strongly interacting electron systems. Lawler's research also addresses quantum criticality and the breakdown of the quasi-particle picture in electronic liquid crystal phases. He has contributed to the study of quantum mechanical systems and their potential applications in quantum computing and high-temperature superconductors.
