Regular biography
Natasha Holmes is the Ann S. Bowers Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at Cornell University. Her research focuses on the teaching and learning of physics and other STEM subjects, with an emphasis on understanding how students acquire skills and knowledge, how different course environments affect learning, and how students develop an understanding of the nature of science. Her work explores the efficacy of hands-on laboratory courses, including the use of assessment tools and pedagogical strategies to enhance student outcomes. She also investigates student experiences in groupwork, gender equity in lab settings, and the relationship between coursework and research experiences. Holmes has published extensively in physics education research and is actively involved in shaping innovative teaching practices in STEM education.
