Nils Deppe is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at Cornell University. His research focuses on astrophysics, general relativity, and cosmology, with an emphasis on numerical relativity. His work involves solving Einstein's equations using massively parallel computer simulations to study extreme matter and gravity, including mergers of binary black holes, neutron stars, and black hole-neutron stars. He is affiliated with the Simulating eXtreme Spacetimes (SXS) collaboration and contributes to the development of the Spectral Einstein Code (SpEC) and the next-generation multi-physics code SpECTRE. Deppe's research produces accurate gravitational waveforms for calibrating models used by observatories like LIGO, Virgo, and KAGRA.
