Dr. James Barr von Oehsen is a Research Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. He serves as the director of the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center (PSC) and holds an appointment at the University of Pittsburgh as a research professor in the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Biomedical Informatics. His research interests include cyberinfrastructure, advanced networking, edge computing, and secure federated platforms. Dr. von Oehsen previously served as Associate Vice President for the Office of Advanced Research Computing at Rutgers University, where he led strategic initiatives in computing, networking, and data science. His work has been supported by the NSF and NIH, and he is a founding member of the Ecosystem for Research Networking (ERN).
