Dr Alexandra Kriz

Dr Alexandra Kriz is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Business at The University of Queensland. Her research interests include ambidextrous innovation, early growth of the firm, internationalising technology-based SMEs, human-centred design, dynamic capabilities, and other related areas. Dr Kriz has contributed to various academic publications and has been involved in research projects focusing on innovation, organisational change, and business model development. She has also worked as a Consultant at Mercer Consulting and as a Research Manager at Incept Labs. Dr Kriz completed her Bachelor of Economics (Honours 1st Class) at the University of Sydney and her Ph.D. at the University of Sydney's Business School.

Alexandra Kriz's research focuses on internationalisation and innovation in science-based firms. Her work explores how firms with new-to-the-world technologies navigate innovation and internationalisation processes. She investigates dynamic capabilities, ambidexterity, and the co-evolution of science-based start-ups and their entrepreneurial ecosystems. Kriz also examines regional innovation management, corporate spin-offs, and the role of business models and open innovation in research-intensive organisations. Her studies highlight the importance of historical context, emotional memories, and psychological capital in organisational change, particularly during mergers and acquisitions. Additionally, she analyses digital service transformation, talent management, and policy enhancements through deep structural understanding of triple helix transitions.
