Regular biography
Associate Professor Carl Sherwood is a member of the School of Economics at The University of Queensland. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering - Civil (UQ, 1984) and an MBA (UQ, 2001). After working as a professional engineer for 15 years, he joined the UQ School of Economics as a Teaching Focussed Academic in 2007. He completed a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education (UQ, 2013) and served as Director of Teaching and Learning in the School of Economics (2019-2021). His research focuses on blending learning activities with face-to-face lectures for large introductory statistics and microeconomics courses. His work on students' contextualised storytelling as a pedagogy for introductory statistics has been recognized with several awards, including a UQ Teaching Excellence Award (2015) and an Australian Award for Teaching Excellence (2017).
