Albert Zijlstra is a Professor of Astrophysics at the University of Manchester, Department of Physics. His research focuses on late stages of stellar evolution, including mass loss, circumstellar matter, AGB stars, planetary nebulae, and nearby galaxies. He utilizes observational astronomy techniques in infrared, optical, and radio wavelengths, employing facilities such as the VLT, VLTI, Spitzer Space Telescope, and VLA. Zijlstra has been associated with the Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics and has held previous roles including Director of the Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics from 2010 to 2015.
