Regular biography
Neal Jackson is a Reader in the Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics, School of Physics and Astronomy at The University of Manchester. His research focuses on extragalactic astronomy, particularly gravitational lensing and active galaxies. He obtained a BA in Natural Sciences (Physics) from Cambridge University in 1986 and a PhD in astronomy from The University of Manchester in 1989. His work involves studying the mass distribution of deflecting objects through gravitational lensing, contributing to dark matter research. He was involved in the CLASS gravitational lens search, which identified 22 lenses. His research also includes the phenomenology of active galaxies and their nuclear regions.
