Irina Grigorieva

Irina Grigorieva is Professor of Physics at The University of Manchester, affiliated with the Condensed Matter Physics group. Her research focuses on the electronic properties of layered and two-dimensional materials and their heterostructures. She joined the University of Manchester in 2001 after completing her PhD in Condensed Matter Physics in 1989 at the Institute of Solid State Physics, Russian Academy of Sciences. Her work includes the study of graphene and its derivatives, magnetic properties, and superconducting materials. She is also involved in postgraduate education as the founding director of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Science and Application of Graphene and Related Nanomaterials (Graphene NOWNANO) and the new Centre for Doctoral Training in 2D Materials of Tomorrow (2DMoT).
