Prof. Kieran Flanagan is a Professor of Nuclear Physics at The University of Manchester, Department of Physics and Astronomy. He is the Head of the Nuclear Physics Group and Director of the Photon Science Institute. His research focuses on the size and shapes of nuclei and the forces that bind them, with an emphasis on spectroscopy of exotic molecules, quantum control, and sensing of molecular ions. He has developed the Collinear Resonance Ionization Spectroscopy (CRIS) method at CERN's ISOLDE facility, enabling measurements of nuclear moments and charge radii in short-lived nuclei. He has also established a start-up company, Artemis Analytical Ltd, to commercialize ultra-sensitive mass spectrometry techniques.
