Yasser Mahmoudi Larimi

Yasser Mahmoudi Larimi is a Professor of Thermal Energy Engineering in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at The University of Manchester. He has held this position since July 2024 and previously served as a Senior Lecturer at the university since January 2021. Prior to joining The University of Manchester, he was a Lecturer in Clean Energy at Queen’s University Belfast and a postdoctoral research associate at Delft University of Technology and the University of Cambridge. His research interests include turbulent flow and heat transfer, energy storage, compressors for hydrogen and air storage, aeroacoustics, and hydrogen combustion. He has been a principal investigator or co-investigator on research projects funded by EPSRC, the Royal Society, Invest Northern Ireland, and industry.

Prof Yasser Mahmoudi Larimi is a researcher at The University of Manchester with expertise in Heat Transfer, Energy Storage, Porous Media, and Hydrogen Combustion. His work focuses on enhancing heat transfer in porous materials under non-equilibrium conditions, numerical simulations of combustion processes, and the analysis of gaseous detonations. He has investigated the effects of thermal radiation and local thermal non-equilibrium on porous media, as well as the performance of hybrid photovoltaic-thermal systems. His research also includes the application of physics-informed neural networks for predicting heat transfer in two-phase flows and the study of hydrodynamic instabilities in detonations.
