Regular biography
Christopher M. Mauger is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on neutrino physics, particularly neutrino oscillation experiments, with an emphasis on determining the neutrino mass hierarchy and exploring leptonic CP violation. He leads the CAPTAIN program and contributes to the Minerva Experiment, supporting long-baseline neutrino physics initiatives such as T2K and DUNE. Additionally, he explores applied neutrino research through the WATCHMAN program and investigates the use of neutrinos in nuclear non-proliferation. Mauger was born in Philadelphia and raised in New Jersey, with early scientific interests sparked by demonstrations at the Franklin Institute. He has worked on several neutrino experiments, including Super-Kamiokande, K2K, and KamLAND, and was a founding member of the LBNE program, now known as DUNE.
