Regular biography

SAKASAI Takuya is an Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Mathematical Sciences at The University of Tokyo. His research focuses on topology, particularly the mapping class groups of surfaces, characteristic classes of bundles, and 3-dimensional topology. His current work explores the cohomology rings of mapping class groups and their connections to representation theory, as well as the role of infinite dimensional Lie algebras in these areas. He has published extensively on topics such as Lagrangian mapping class groups, Magnus representations, and homology cobordism groups. His research contributes to understanding the structure of 3-dimensional manifolds through algebraic and topological methods.
