Regular biography
Vijay Gupta, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles. His research interests include experimental mechanics, fracture of engineering solids, mechanics of thin films and interfaces, failure mechanisms and characterization of composite materials, ice mechanics, and biomedical applications such as using high frequency laser-generated acoustic pulses for dissociation of intercellular and cell-to-Ti bonds for the treatment of arrhythmias and development of efficient titanium implants. His work has been published in several journals, including Biomechanics and Modeling in Mechano-biology, Mechanics of Materials, and the ASME Journal of Biomechanical Engineering.
