James J. Jamie Bock

James J. (Jamie) Bock is the Marvin L. Goldberger Professor of Physics and Jet Propulsion Laboratory Senior Research Scientist at the California Institute of Technology, affiliated with the Division of Physics, Mathematics and Astronomy. His research focuses on experimental cosmology, particularly the study of the cosmic microwave background and its implications for understanding the early universe. Bock's work includes the development of advanced detectors and instruments for observing the universe, such as the BICEP Array and the SPHEREx mission, which aims to map the sky in near-infrared spectroscopy. His research also explores the origins of water and biogenic molecules in planetary systems and the large-scale structure of the universe.
