John M. Allman is the Frank P. Hixon Professor of Neurobiology in the Biology and Biological Engineering department at the California Institute of Technology. His research focuses on the biology of neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer's disease and frontotemporal dementia. He collaborates with other faculty members to investigate these conditions using techniques such as RNA-Seq, Seq-FISH, immunocytochemistry, and high angular resolution diffusion magnetic resonance imaging. His work explores the reduction in axonal health capacity in these disorders, potentially contributing to their pathogenesis. Allman has authored books on human illnesses and evolving brains.
