Zhanna Sarsenbayeva

Dr Zhanna Sarsenbayeva is a Lecturer in the School of Computer Science at The University of Sydney. Her research interests include Human-computer interaction, Human-centred computing, Clinical sciences, Accessible computing, and Applied computing. Previously, she held a position as Doreen Thomas Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the School of Computing and Information Systems at the University of Melbourne. She holds a PhD in Engineering from the School of Computing and Information Systems, University of Melbourne, an MSc in Computer Science and Engineering from University of Oulu, and a BSc in Computer Science from University College London.

Her research explores the intersection of technology and human behavior, focusing on emotion recognition through multimodal signals, mobile interaction under situational impairments, and the impact of ambient noise on user experience. She also investigates fairness perceptions in AI and the use of sensor technologies for health monitoring, such as hand hygiene and medication management. Her work emphasizes the development of robust methodologies for measuring physiological and behavioral responses in real-world settings, contributing to the design of more inclusive and adaptive interactive systems.
