Hannah Stuart

Hannah Stuart is the Howard Penn Brown Chair in Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. She received her BS in Mechanical Engineering from George Washington University in 2011 and completed her MS and PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University in 2013 and 2018, respectively. Her research interests include dexterous manipulation, bioinspired design, soft and multi-material mechanisms, skin contact conditions, tactile sensing, and haptics. Her work focuses on improving robot dexterity through embodied intelligence, particularly in unstructured environments. She is an NSF CAREER and NASA Early Career Faculty grant recipient.
