Suranga Seneviratne

Dr Suranga Seneviratne is an Associate Professor in Security at the School of Computer Science, The University of Sydney. His research interests include cybersecurity and privacy, data security and protection, system and network security, mobile computing, networking and communications, deep learning, neural networks, adversarial machine learning, pervasive computing, and machine learning. Prior to his academic career, he worked in the telecommunications industry for nearly six years in core network planning and operations.

Suranga Seneviratne is a researcher at the University of Sydney with expertise in Privacy & Security, Internet Measurements, Machine Learning, and Computer Networks. His work explores the intersection of these fields, focusing on user authentication, privacy risks, and network security. He has investigated challenges in wearable devices, IoT security, and the analysis of mobile app behaviors. His research includes developing machine learning models for detecting malicious activities, such as money laundering on the Bitcoin network and phishing URLs. Additionally, he has contributed to the understanding of deep learning applications in network security and resource-constrained environments.
