Regular biography
Liyi Zhou is a Lecturer in Computer Science at The University of Sydney and an ARC DECRA Fellow (2026). His research focuses on cybersecurity, with an emphasis on software and system security. He studies how vulnerabilities emerge in complex software systems and develops automated techniques to detect, analyze, and mitigate security risks. His research has been published at leading venues including IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy, USENIX Security Symposium, International Conference on Software Engineering and ACM SIGMETRICS. He serves on the program committees of USENIX Security and ACM CCS. He has also discovered vulnerabilities in real world systems and earned multiple bug bounties for his findings. His recent work focuses on AI for security, exploring how advanced AI systems can assist with vulnerability discovery, security analysis, and automated reasoning about software behavior.
