Liwei Lin is a Distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, and serves as James Marshall Wells Academic Chair. He is also Co-Director of the Berkeley Sensor & Actuator Center. Lin's research focuses on MEMS (Microelectromechanical Systems), NEMS (Nanoelectromechanical Systems), nanotechnology, and the design and manufacturing of microsensors and microactuators. His work includes the development of micromachining processes through silicon surface and bulk micromachining, as well as micromolding processes. Lin has contributed to addressing mechanical issues in MEMS, such as heat transfer, solid/fluid mechanics, and dynamics.
