Regular biography
Homayoon Kazerooni is a professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, where he also serves as the director of the Berkeley Robotics and Human Engineering Laboratory. With over 30 years of mechanical engineering experience and a doctorate from MIT, Dr. Kazerooni is known for his work in robotics, control sciences, exoskeletons, medical devices, human-machine systems, and bioengineering. His research includes the development of intelligent assist devices and lower-extremity exoskeletons, such as BLEEX, ExoHiker, ExoClimber, and HULC, which have been licensed to industry partners. Dr. Kazerooni has also developed medical exoskeletons, Ekso and Phoenix, which aid individuals with mobility impairments. He has founded companies, including Ekso Bionics and suitX, and has received numerous awards for his contributions to engineering and technology.
