Lubna Alam

Lubna Alam is an Associate Professor at The University of Sydney, affiliated with the BUS department. Her research interests focus on digital transformation, digital technologies, and the societal impact of digitalisation on organisations and not-for-profits. She is an interdisciplinary researcher with expertise in socio-technical studies and employs qualitative methods such as focus groups, interviews, co-design, and actional design research. Sultana Lubna Alam, affiliated with the University of Sydney and Deakin University, focuses on Crowdsourcing, Social Media, Digital transformation, and Artificial Intelligence. Her research explores volunteer motivations in cultural crowdsourcing, digital co-production on social platforms, and the role of system-use practices in sustaining motivation. She investigates government use of social media, such as Twitter and Facebook, to enhance public engagement and participation. Her work also addresses the challenges of plagiarism in assessment and the dynamics of user participation in digital environments. Alam's research contributes to understanding the temporality of organizational motivations and the governance of crowdsourcing in GLAM contexts.
