John Buchanan
Regular biography
Professor John Buchanan is affiliated with The University of Sydney's Business School (BUS). His research interests include human resources management and professional education and training. He has been involved in significant research projects, including the first Australian Workplace Industrial Relations Survey (AWIRS) between 1988 and 1991. He joined the Workplace Research Centre (formerly acirrt) in 1991 and served as its Director from 2005 to 2014. His research has focused on the demise of the classical wage earner model and the role of the state in promoting efficiency and fairness in the labour market. He is currently Network Leader for the University of Sydney's Health and Work Research Network. He has authored and co-edited several books, including Australia at work: just managing? and Inclusive Growth in Australia: Social policy as economic investment.
