Dr George Issa is a Lecturer (Education-Focused) in the Discipline of Finance at the University of Sydney's Business School. His research interests include the banking sector and market microstructure of over-the-counter mechanisms in fixed income, repo, and derivative markets. Current studies focus on the international transmission of funding shocks through global banks' bond holdings and how dealer banks use rehypothecated collateral as a funding mechanism via repo haircuts. Prior research examined the impact of trading relationships on execution costs in OTC markets and the roles of retail and institutional traders in the Australian options market. His work has been published in international peer-reviewed journals. George is an alumnus of the University of Sydney, graduating with First Class Honours in 2012 and earning his PhD in 2018.
