Andrea Pellegrini

Andrea Pellegrini is a Dr at The University of Sydney, affiliated with the BUS department. He joined the Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies as the Neil Smith Lecturer in Sustainable Mobility and Accessibility in March 2023. Prior to this, he was a lecturer at the Business School of the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), where he coordinated courses in Buyer Behaviour and Delivering Customer Value. Before transitioning into a lecturing role, Andrea spent three years as a visiting research scholar, supported by two prestigious fellowships, the Early Postdoc Mobility and Postdoc Mobility grants, awarded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. During his time at UTS, he also contributed as a tutor in undergraduate Business Statistics. Andrea holds a Master of Science in Statistics with honours from the University of Bologna and a PhD in Economics from the University of Lugano. During his doctoral studies, he undertook two research visits at the Centre for Infrastructure, Sustainable Transportation and Urban Planning within the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science. His PhD thesis advanced multiple discrete–continuous choice models by incorporating multiple resource constraints and modelling complementarity and substitutability patterns in consumption, with the aim of improving the understanding of consumer preferences. Andrea is an expert in the programming and estimation of advanced choice models, microeconometric models, and spatial econometric frameworks.
