Hongyu Ou is a faculty member in the School of Life Sciences and Biotechnology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His research focuses on bacterial mobile genetic elements, toxin-antitoxin systems, and their roles in bacterial virulence and antibiotic resistance. He has developed open-access databases and tools for identifying these elements, including oriTDB, TADB 3.0, and ICEberg 3.0. His work has been published in prestigious journals such as Nucleic Acids Research and Nature Machine Intelligence. Ou's research contributes to understanding the mechanisms of genetic element transfer and their impact on bacterial pathogenesis.
