Serguei Saavedra

Serguei Saavedra is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research focuses on understanding the feasibility of observing the emergence, transformation, and regeneration of ecological systems. The Structural Ecology Group, led by Saavedra, aims to quantify the uncertainty associated with the persistence of multispecies communities under changing environments. This work involves developing probabilistic and systems approaches to assess the range of conditions compatible with ecological persistence.
