Andrew Whittle is the Edmund K Turner Professor in Civil Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Department of Civil Engineering. His research focuses on modeling geomaterial behavior, developing analysis methods for predicting soil-structure interactions, and monitoring and controlling underground infrastructure. He is affiliated with the Sustainable Materials & Infrastructure and Climate and Environment faculties. His research interests include geotechnical engineering, constitutive models for geomaterials, analysis methods for foundations, excavations, tunnels, in situ test methods, ground improvement, field monitoring, and sensor networks.
