Franz-Josef Ulm is the Class of 1922 Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research focuses on the nano and micro mechanics of porous materials, including concrete, rocks, and bones. Ulm is the Faculty Director of the MIT Concrete Sustainability Hub (CSHub). His work encompasses durability mechanics, computational mechanics, and bio-chemo-poromechanics of high-performance composite materials.
