Wuyang Zhao

Wuyang Zhao is an Associate Professor, Accounting; Cleghorn Faculty Scholar at the Desautels Faculty of Management, McGill University. He teaches various courses at the PhD, MBA, and undergraduate levels. Zhao received his PhD in Accounting from the University of Toronto in 2017 and previously held a position as an assistant professor at the McCombs School of Business, University of Texas at Austin. His research focuses on the roles of short-sellers and financial analysts in capital markets, with publications in top accounting journals such as the Journal of Accounting Research and Management Science. He also serves as an Editor of Contemporary Accounting Research starting from 2026.

Wuyang Zhao is an associate professor in accounting with research interests in Financial Accounting, Short Sellers, Financial Analysts, and Equity Valuation. His work explores the implications of short-selling threats on auditor behavior, activist short-selling, and corporate opacity.
