Ra, Young-Sik

Ra, Young-Sik is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at KAIST. His research focuses on quantum optics and quantum information, with specific interests in continuous-variable quantum information, quantum optical frequency comb, and quantum technologies based on light. He joined KAIST as an Associate Professor in 2024, having previously served as an Assistant Professor at the institution from 2018 to 2024. Prior to that, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Laboratoire Kastler Brossel from 2015 to 2018 and at POSTECH LAB from 2014 to 2015. His academic background includes a B.S. and Ph.D. in Physics from POSTECH, earned between 2004 and 2014.

Young-Sik Ra is a researcher at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) specializing in quantum optics and quantum information. His work focuses on the experimental realization of quantum states and operations, including photonic qubits, entangled states, and quantum measurement techniques. Ra's research explores the generation and characterization of non-Gaussian quantum states, quantum-to-classical transitions, and coherence properties of light. He has contributed to the development of weak value measurements, quantum tomography, and structural physical approximations for quantum operations. His studies also address fundamental bounds in quantum state estimation and the generation of multi-photon entangled states for quantum communication and information processing.
