Philippe Michel is a Full Professor at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Department of Mathematics. His research interests lie in analytic number theory, with a focus on techniques such as arithmetic geometry, exponential sums, sieve methods, automorphic forms, L-functions, and ergodic theory. He joined EPFL after serving as a full professor at Université Montpellier II. Michel is a former student of ENS Cachan and obtained his PhD from Université Paris XI in 1995. He has been a member of the Institut Universitaire de France and has received the Peccot-Vimont prize.
